Trancendence Theater Company's Broadway Under The Stars, second season at Jack London State Park, in the Valley of the Moon - Glen Ellen, celebrated its grand finale for 2013 with the last of the season's sell-out shows, in late August.
I can't think of a more picturesque setting than Jack London's ever-enchanted kingdom of Beauty Rancg, here in the heart of wine country. In his word: "Acres of the most beautiful primitive land to be found in California."
Open air concerts take place beside Jack and his wife Charmian's cottage, within the solid brick walls of the old historic ruins of the Kohler and Frohling winery.
What a fantastic solution of significant fundraising by the innovative Valley of the Moon Natural History Association and its Jack London Park Partners, to keep this extraordinary park and place of literary wonder thriving and open to visitors, year round.
Concert-goers picnic in the park prior to the series of shows that run from late June to the end of August. These shows have won the Broadway World San Francisco Award for best special theater event and feature talented young Broadway performers from such shows as Wicked, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Chicago, Hairspray, White Christmas, Mary Poppins and more.
Broadway performers are roomed in family homes in the Sonoma valley and spend the summer working with area youth in a musical theater program, with several guestappearances around wine country. It's a great way to mobilize musical theater professionals in the quieter summer months as well as bringing world class performances to the rustic West!
