Seeings as Bill Bryson is my all-time favorite writer, I couldn't resisit pairing this quote with the fact that Southern Sonoma County's modestly-sized city of Petaluma currently boasts the largest craft brewery community per square mile than anywhere in the great state of California! We certainly are staying put in these parts with our roots firmly entrenched.
And so it is perfectly fitting that we now have our very own local Craft Beer Festival - the first of which features a substantial fifteen stellar breweries (from Petaluma and neighboring communities) featured by logo above.
Lagunitas Brewery leads the Petaluma line-up in fame and fast-growing small fortune and is a fine example of what might well be in store for up-and-coming HenHouse Brewing Company, Petaluma Hills, Three Uncles Brewing Company and longtime local Dempsey's.
It's exciting to experience the national buzz being generated around our city's craft beers. And even more fun to taste.
The Petaluma River Craft Beer Festival also offers food tastings, live entertainment and one brave wine booth!
Rotary Club of Petaluma Valley and the city's Chamber of Commerce have cooked up this clever event which will raise dollars for community charities as well as Petaluma River Projects.
The event takes place on Saturday September 14th, 2013 from 1 pm to 6 pm on historic Water Street, along Petaluma's riverfront. $30 Advance tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce or online at petalumarivercraftbeerfest.org.
Advance Admission: $30 = souvenir beer glass + 10 tickets for beer and/or food tastings
Day-of-event Admission: $40 = souvenir beer glass + 10 tickets for beer and/or food tastings
Excellent idea is a Designated Driver Admission: $15 = 6 tickets for water and food tastings
Admission is strictly limited to those 21 years and older. No pets.
If you are a beer lover heading to the festival from out of town, coming from the North or from the South, take the East Washington exit off Hwy 101 and head towards downtown (west).
There are two free parking structures: Keller Street Garage is located on Keller Street between Western & Washington. The bottom level parking is 4 hour and the higher levels increase from there.
The Second Street Garage entrance is located on C Street between First and Second Streets. It's all day parking on every level.
