Don't leave it to the major corporations to rally the big bucks in support of education here in Petaluma - for one independent business owner is continually blazing a trail of philanthropic leadership within our caring community.
Chris Cheney, tireless owner of TRAXX popular Bar and Grill here in Petaluma is Chief Instigator of an annual Golf Tournament that has funded $14,000 in grants for Petaluma Educational Foundation programs within city wide schools over the past handful of years.
This August 30th marks the fifth annual shotgun start to Cheney's TRAXX Bar and Grill four man scramble golf tournament over at Rooster Run.
“This tournament not only directly benefits every public and private non-profit school in Petaluma, but attracts more than 100 business professionals and community leaders reachable by becoming a tournament sponsor,” says Cheney, whose signature tournament includes great prizes, a tasty box lunch, followed by a slap-up dinner and awards later on at TRAXX. Cost is $150 per player. The tournament starts at 11 am.
“During these challenging economic times, it’s more important than ever for our community to show our support for education, our future – the kids need our help more than ever!” says Cheney. “As chairperson of the tournament and Friend of PEF, my pledge to you is that 100% of your donation for either a flag or tee sponsorship will go directly to the schools.”
