Blackberry season is in full swing here in scenic Sonoma County, the best bushes ripe for the picking being tucked away off the beaten track and away from passing fruit foragers, of which there are a plenty on urban trails in and around town.
An annual date with friends, the Foulkes at their rambling, far-away country property that straddles the borders of West Marin and Southern Sonoma County reaped abundant rewards from a Sunday afternoon berry picking session.
Two big tubs of the juiciest, purplest blackberries are sitting on the counter top in my kitchen awaiting their moment of glory when topped upon the once-a-year dream dessert of a couple, big grappa and mascarpone cream Torte Di Mora Italian fruit tarts.
Blackberry Fool keeps popping up as a potential candidate for the remaining bounty from yesterday's pick. Will post a recipe once I settle on a variation of this more traditionally English summer's sweet.
