If you were raised with an annual, full-throttle, festive rendition of "Oh no he didn't, Oh, yes he did," you'll know all about the tremendous theatrical traditions of good, old fashioned British Panto, but for those who in the SF Bay area who may not have had the good fortune of an initiation to authentic Pantomime, now's the time to pack the kids, grumpy partners and granny into the car and head over to Southern Marin for a marvelous new take on your fairy tale favorites!
Bay-area-based Stark Ravens Historical Players (you may have seen them tripping the Victorian light fantastic at the Dickens Christmas Fair) sew together Cinderella, Aladdin, the Big Bad Wolf, enchanting fairies and more to deliver a refreshing family tour-de-force -sure to have us all laughing and singing along to their sensational silliness.
The second major musical Panto from Stark Ravens, this original show will not only introduce the cheerful concept of traditional British pantomime to Americans (and let's face it, we could do with a laugh), this year's program, benefiting education in Marin County will open with a popular, authentic Punch and Judy puppet show prior to curtain time.
"Panto! The Musical Fairy Tale Adventure" shows Feb. 13, 14, 20 and 21, at the Little Theater on the Drake High School campus, 1327 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, San Anselmo.
