Many people say they feel Jack’s spirit when they are at his beloved Sonoma County homestead, Jack London State Park. I know I do. I would have loved to have been around in those days to hang out on Beauty Ranch with this brilliant bad-boy of the action/adventure/literary world!
Join poet and writing teacher Iris Jamahl Dunkle to conjure the essence of this internationally renowned author–the most highly paid writer of his time–during three half-day writing workshops at Jack London State Historic Park.
Drawing on the literary legacy of London, participants will spend reflective time at various historical locations in the park, discuss both the historical and literary inspirations and then pursue writing exercises in a collaborative and encouraging group environment.
First class is June 13th, 2015 focusing on the iconic Wolf House ruins and Jack’s haunting gravesite.
Second class on August 15th the focus changes to the adventurous Beauty Ranch and the controversial lake.
Series concludes on October 18th exploring the secrets inside the historic Cottage where Jack did so much of his own writing and also examine the turbulent history of the Winery Ruins.
Writers of all levels and genres are welcome. Class sizes are limited.
Each class runs from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Check website for complete breakdown of the day’s schedule.
