Matrix Parent Network and Resource Center is a Novato, Marin County-based parent-founded, parent-operated nonprofit organization founded in 1983, designed to empower families of children with special needs to understand and successfully access the systems that serve them in Sonoma, Marin, Solano and Napa counties. .

This vital non-profit serves families with children, ages birth-26, not only in Marin, Napa, Solano and Sonoma Counties but in other parent centers throughout Region 6, eight western states and pacific territories, providing both direct services to families and support services to other federally funded parent centers.
Why is parent-operated important? More than 50% of the organization's Board of Directors are parents of children with diverse abilities and needs. Additionally, most of the staff at Matrix have children with special needs, so they have a deep understanding of what families are experiencing. All of its services are free, supported through grants, contracts, donations, and fundraising activities. - Helps families learn how to obtain appropriate education and services for their children with diverse abilities
- Works collaboratively to improve education results for all children
- Trains and informs parents and professionals on a variety of topics
- Facilitates parent-professional collaborative activities
- Helps resolve problems between families and schools or other agencies
- Connects families of children with diverse abilities to community resources that address their needs
