Back in the UK when I was a girl, sighting of a 'chocolate box' cottage meant that it was worthy of gracing the decorative top of a box of Milk Tray, Terry's All Gold and other such delights.
Most of these cottages came with the quintessential thatched roof, willow trees and a duck pond nearby.
I'm equally fond of the quirky range of styles in cottage charm here in Northern California, particularly in summer time.
Heading over the pond to visit the folks this July, I will be keeping an eye out for those chocolate box charmers for an English extension of this summer's photo series.
