Pedal Power - Summer Style

Scrolling through the freshly cut sale items at Anthropologie, this trio of splendid cycles caught my eye. A bit on the pricey side, there are more affordable versions of these available in our neighborhood bike stores, but for style and design - these three are the tops!

This dashing Pashley Brittania Bike in cherry red is the (relative) bargain of the bunch at $700 (was $1,395). 

Founded more than 80 years ago, Pashley, England's longest-established bicycle manufacturer, classically engineers bikes by hand in Stratford-upon-Avon. Cruise comfortably around Sonoma Country on this five-speed bike complete with a wicker basket, bell and cream colored tires plated in polished red chrome.

 

Sygnal Cycles Picnic Bike - $3,000 (was $6,000). Engineered by Matt Cardinal and Nate Meschke, avid cyclists who founded Signal Cycles in 2007. This design - a classic stock bicycle with picnics in mind features a detachable, double-pocketed wicker basket to the porteur-style front.

Over the top glam - Van Heesch Copper Bicycle - $3,000 (was $6,000). Anthro editor wrote of this: "What does any resourceful former design student living in Amsterdam do when faced with overcrowded racks of rusting bikes? Design a copper one based on the archetypal Dutch cycle - one that gets better with age."
