Head out to the farm here in Southern Sonoma County this September 12th or 19th (2010) for a farmstead apple pie making workshop at the peak of ripeness following a rustic tour of Olympia's Apple Orchard's 500 organic, heirloom apple trees.
Learn first-hand from Kathy Tresch, farmer, apple expert and owner of Olympia's Orchard (at Two Rock Ranch), about growing and caring for heirloom and organic apples.
After touring the orchard and handpicking apples for your pie, SoCo Chef and food writer Meloni Courtway will teach you the secrets of how to make the perfect pie crust.
While your take home apple pie is baking in the farm's outdoor oven, you'll enjoy a taste of what's to come with a slice of Meloni's farm made pies, perfectly picked from orchard to oven and paired with a local wine or a glass of sun-brewed iced tea, if you'd prefer!
Three-hour workshops using the freshest of ingredients at the source take place Sunday, September 12th at 11 am and 3 pm and Sunday, September 19th at 11 am.
A $48 per person workshop fee includes the apple farm tour, hands-on pie making course at the farm, apple pie tasting & pairing and a personal pie to take home to family and friends.
Space is limited. Register here online.

WOW1 That pie looks great. I'm not good at baking. I am pretty good at eating. Thank you for the post
