Fifth in a series of 2010 PEF Major Impact Grants features Kenilworth Junior High School's impressive, new eight station variable resistance fitness circuit machine designed to increase muscular strength and fitness endurance in teens.
Awarded in the focus area of athletics and nutrition, this $15,000 major impact grant will positively impact the health and fitness of 1,000 seventh and eighth grade students at the east side school.
“The fitness lab is an across the board favorite for our students and has increased their motivation to participate in rigorous physical fitness in a positive and safe environment,” says Ted Russo, Kenilworth Junior High School Teacher.
At a time when funding has never been more critical, 11 Major Impact Grants (amounting to over $115,000) have been awarded by PEF (Sonoma Country Life Sponsor) to schools across the city, this Spring, with additional approved grant applications currently awaiting funding for completion by May 2011.
