Baxter’s Custom Framing and Design at 160 Kentucky St in historic downtown Petaluma, received a 1936 vintage poster of Josephine Baker from the George Lucas collection.
The poster was painted by Hungarian art director, scene and costume designer Michel Gyarmathy and is a large, 45.49 x 124.02 inches. It features a timeless image of Josephine, mid-dance at the famed Folies Bergere, in Paris.
Baxter Quinn, owner of the frame shop has extensive experience working with the Lucas Art Department. The collaboration took months and many skilled people working out the details.
Baxter framed the piece this week and it was crated and shipped to the Smithsonian on Tuesday, March 19th where it will be on loan and display.
