Did you know the Petaluma Arts Center has launched a series of ‘Thought Experiments’ that are designed to engage our community in thinking about the importance of place and role of the arts?
Last quarter, the first question posed in this novel new Thought Experiment was: "Why is a community with an arts center better than one without?’”
This quarter the question is: "What are three special places that should be on any map of Petaluma?"
New questions will be posed every quarter and will be posted in a variety of locations — in the Arts Center lobby, on the Arts Center website and in the Arts Center's monthly newsletter. The answers, we hear will also appear in some of those same places.
Arts Center Director Carin Jacobs hopes to collect responses from visitors to the Arts Center over the next few months. After that, there's the potential for local artists to be brought in to create maps of Petaluma with the most common landmarks embedded.
Arts Center attendance requires proof of vaccination and a mask and there are other ways to participate in this if you're not up for a visit. And as “Integrating Practice” is scheduled to remain open through the end of March, visit the Petaluma Arts Center at 230 Lakeville St.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 12 - 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Admission is $5.
