The courage of military veterans of all ages is tested as they struggle to acclimate to civilian life. To ease that stressful transition, a workshop is being offered in Santa Rosa to help inspire veterans to move forward with their lives, find employment and raise families.
Offered by the nonprofit Reset-Go, the free two-hour workshop gives attendees a boost of confidence, enabling them to focus on their strengths, create a goal and a plan to reach that goal. The class is from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 25, at the Santa Rosa Veterans Building, 1351 Maple Avenue, Santa Rosa.
Veterans, especially ones fresh off their tours of duty, are challenged by today’s stagnant job market, civilian culture and the lack of accustomed channels of support offered by the armed forces. Often, young vets begin to doubt themselves and what they have to offer to society. Through the Reset-Go class, veterans can find the direction, focus and motivation to become more attractive hires, better students or open their own businesses. In short, attendees learn to thrive rather than simply survive.
The workshop is taught by two North Bay women with close ties to veterans affairs and life coaching. Marilyn Spoja and Ann Moreno, co-founders of Reset-Go, have many years of experience coaching people through transition periods. Marilyn, the mother of a Marine and a Blue Star Mother of Marin, and Ann, the daughter of a career Army officer, are vitally interested and committed to supporting veteran transition. They are based in Marin and Sonoma counties.
This workshop is valued at $100 per person, and is given for free to veterans or their dependents. Reset Go is looking for corporate sponsorships and personal donations to cover the costs of the program.
