Don't miss Petaluma based artist and Entomologist Kevin Clarke's visit to the Petaluma Wildlife Museum on Friday, March 14th, 2014 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm - guest host of the second in the museum's innovative, ongoing Natural History Series.
Kevin holds a B.S in Psychology from Boston College and a Master of Biology (Conservation Biology) from San Francisco State University. His lifelong love and concern for insects directed him to a Master’s degree in Conservation Biology, a scientific publication, and rich experiences working in the prestigious entomology departments of the California Academy of Science and IZIKO South African Museum.
The conservation biologist, science educator and artist's mission is to protect, explain and flaunt aspects of the natural world. As sole designer and fabricator at Bug Under Glass, Kevin hopes to restore a sense of wonder about the natural world that is fleeting in an increasingly urban and technology driven world.
He plans to utilize his Natural History Series visit to the Wildlife Museum to shed light on the hidden and fantastic world of insects. Designed to elude their predators, insects have effectively escaped much of our notice, except for when they become a nuisance. But what a world of intrigue they represent. Kevin's eclectic, intricate artwork and talk celebrates these shy creatures for their intrinsic beauty as well as their essential ecosystem function.
The artist's super cool & creative beetle dioramas have been featured on Apartment Therapy, WIRED Magazine, AMC's TV show "Immortalized", German Television and a couple pieces currently hang at the Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum in Hollywood.
