Friends and family around the world are rallying support for my dear sister's eight month-old baby boy, Teddy, who has been under the unanticipated care of outstanding doctors in Albury Base Hospital, New South Wales, Australia, while en-route from his home in Sydney for scheduled heart surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne.
Teddy's two day road trip with his parents was detoured around four hours from their destination when his parents detected his need for immediate medical attention, this week.
Teddy has experienced his first flight after being transported from Albury to Melbourne, though his six hour surgery won't proceed until he has rebuilt the strength that he's going to need for this next major challenge in our beloved little boy's complex medical journey.
I've always written from the heart and I've visited with, interviewed and written about numerous sick children over the years of a journalistic career. Writing about one's nearest and dearest in times of extraordinary circumstances is altogether harder than anything else I've ever tackled. I'm not going to tell Teddy's inspirational story - that's for my sister, his mother, a lifelong journalist (and world traveled, international editor) to tell us in her own time when his medical team has him safely on the road to health.
What I would like to say is that there are moments in our lives when speaking from the heart, sharing the the power of positive thought and asking for wishes of wellness are what matters most. Keep Teddy in your mind this week and in the coming weeks, wherever you are in the world.

Thank you for sharing from this post from the heart Frances. Though all of your posts have your heart in them, no doubt this time it's breaking.
I simply can't tell you how sorry I am that you and your family are going through this. It must be especially hard for you being so far away.
There are many who are holding up Teddy in their prayers for his healing and I'm also praying for all of you...that you may have a peace that passes all understanding during this difficult time.
