Check out Petaluma-based stylist and author of "Growing More Beautiful," Jennifer Robin's blog post on the recent 'Royal-Tea' celebration that I missed out on at the Historical Museum, while over the pond. I must admit, I would have loved to have been here, Stateside for Kate's first foray into California.
Robin's post is much more than a mere nod of approval to the fashion forward Duchess of Cambridge, it's a great little checklist on “pointers” to scoop up and use in our own pursuit of dressing well.
I've heard that our wonderful riverfront city embraced a rather last-minute, state-wide invitation to toast the royal pair in an impromptu community gathering that called for polishing off the best china over at the museum on Fourth Street.
The lovely ladies pictured above certainly put their best foot forward in what's fast becoming a long-awaited revival of the festive frock.
A summertime visit to England is a refesher course in flowery frocks and linen suits. I found myself quite captivated, as usual, whenever I'm back in the UK, by balmy weather business attire in London. All those understated extra touches, a flash of cerise sock and a stylish shoe on a soberly besuited gent. A flowery sundress and sandals on a middle aged, briefcase carrying lady media exec.
The Duchess of Cambridge did indeed blaze a trail of faultless fashion sensibility on her firs official tour outside of the UK. The fact that Catherine (like our own First Lady) famously mixes high street numbers with haute couture makes her flawless appearance all the more accessible to the everyday woman. I think she's shown great taste in her outfitting thus far and have to agree with Jennifer Robin's post that Kate's dress-up pictures have been a pleasure to peruse.
