Hot news for die hard
fans of Hitchcock cult movie The Birds. Bodega Bay's The Tides Wharf is
expecting a special guest this Fourth of July, for Tippi Hedren, lead actress
in the classic, black and white movie that made the Sonoma Coast an
international scare sensation will be signing autographs on Saturday &
Sunday, July 3rd and 4th, 2010.
Mother of movie star
Melanie Griffith (I wonder if she'll also
be out by the bay with hubby Antonio in tow?), Hedren survived the trauma
of the making of the ultimate bird-phobia flick and must be close to 80 by now.
The Birds was Hitchcock's 1963 suspense/horror spectacular based on a book by
author Daphne du Maurier.
Bodega School House
still stands to this day, though visitors to the area have to travel a little
way inland as the museum building it has become was always located within the
hamlet of Bodega and not, as it appeared on film, along the Bay.
So sleepy and remote is Bodega, Hedren autograph hunters will have to do their homework and book ahead to complete their fan mission and take a tour of the historic school house.
