Special events at Petaluma Kentucky Street's bustling Vine and Barrel wine boutique have become so popular that proprietor, Jason has had to bolt the doors at a certain point of the afternoon.
If, like me, your pre-summer calendar was so slammed with kid stuff, sports, graduations and the like, you might well have missed out on the first half of this year's top vino events at the Barrel. Now that things have slowed down for a wee while it's high time to mark the social schedule for some sipping and swirling. Here are the final five tasting events taking place at Vine and Barrel this year:
Aug 8th – ZAP – ½ Zapped Zinfandel. The Best of the Best.
Sept 5th – The Great wines of Spain - Spanish Wine TastingOct 3rd – Syrah and Rhone Varietal Tasting
Nov 14th – The Great Petaluma Pinot Noir Tasting
Dec 12th – Champagne, Oyster, Caviar, Cheese and Pate'
Each event costs $30 per person, well worth the money, as Jason doesn't skimp on the tasty treats to make for far more than the typical wine tasting.
"The (1/2 Zapped Zin) event is in accordance with ZAP(Zinfandel Advocates Producers)," says Jason "and will be comprised of 28 of the best zinfandels in the state of California. We will be roasting a pig which will be provided, locally, by the Clark Summit Farm just west of Petaluma. We will dine on wonderful, roast pig and sip all the fabulous versions of the best zinfandels from every region in the state from Paso Robles to the Sierra Foothills over to Sonoma and the Russian River Valley. Highlights include the X Zinfandel Blend, Starry Night, Vinosia Primitivo with Domaine Select, Amphora, Wild Hog, Rosa d' Oro Primitivo, Perry Creek, Hook and Ladder, R and B Cellars, Howling Moon, McNab, and my two very favorites(sorry!) Dusi and GAMBA!"
Tickets are expected to sell out for the popular Zinfandel event, so book ahead with Jason at 2007 Vine & Barrel Wine Shop 143 Kentucky Street, Petaluma, CA (707) 765-1112 jason@vineandbarrel.com.
