How was your Monday? According to a particularly jolly researcher in Wales, we're hearing all the way over here in comparatively cheery California that Monday January 21st is the most depressing day of the year.
Blue Monday is likely the coldest, wettest, least inspiring day on a large proportion of the global calendar, with holiday bills screaming to be paid, and according to Mr. Misery, New Year's resolutions being well and truly out of the window by now.
Take it from me, Wales is a beautiful place when the sun occasionally shines. But for the majority of the year the Welsh are waking up to rainy day after rainy day. No wonder the poor research fellow's finding fame for such a depressingly expert outlook.
Crabby in Cardiff? Grumpy in Guerneville? Sad in Sonoma? Oh well, tomorrow's another day. And if you care to take my advice to beat the winter blues, crank up the oven, grease up the cookie sheet and get to work on some serious baking therapy. Two dozen vanishing oatmeal raisin cookies and everyone's happy! Except, of course, the winter waistline....
