When the Fabulous Women of Petaluma announced their 2017 Festival of Trees Event this fall, the last thing this unstoppable good-doing community group imagined taking hold of the region were the wildfires that devastated Sonoma and neighboring counties.
While it's vital that we keep calm and carry on in fundraising for all the many worthy non-profits within our communities, the impact of the wildfires on so many families, individuals and businesses has naturally taken top priority in monetary donations this month and last.
In order to maintain original philanthropic goals of the Festival of Trees to fund local charities, the Fabulous Women have come up with a fantastic auction to boost the coffers of the wildfire funds as well.
A special collaboration with sports writer for the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Bob Padecky is just the ticket.
"In the interest of helping our community rebuild after the fires, Bob is donating and auctioning off his prized sports memorabilia," announces the Fabulous Women's Krista Gawronski. "All proceeds from this auction will support the Redwood Credit Union Fire Fund. One hundred percent of your donations for this auction will go toward fire relief. This is a lovely offering that brings us back to how important it is to have everyday people show up for one another during times of crisis and recovery."
In a statement to the press, Bob Padecky says: "If there’s anything I’ve learned from my over 50-year involvement with sports it’s this: Athletes and owners don’t sit on their hands waiting for something to happen, which is why I have the good fortune to pair up with the Fabulous Women for raise funds for those victimized by the October wildfires."
Bob is collecting sports memorabilia for the auction to be held in conjunction with The Festival of Trees. He already has received donations from all of the Bay Area pro teams, including Sonoma Raceway.
Private collectors are donating items.
"This is an amazing opportunity to do good and make an some positive impact on the recovery effort," says Bob.
Join the Fabulous Women at the Petaluma Hotel for the Festival of Trees, Dec 1st and 2nd, 2017 and consider donating some of your own sports memorabilia if you have such a collection.
" We welcome tickets for local sports teams, signed collectibles and unique experiences," says Krista. "Let's do everything possible to show Bob and Santa that we celebrate their love and vision for this town."
In addition to the auction, the Fabulous Women are raffling a trip to Vegas and other amazing gifts on a special "Sonoma Strong Christmas Tree." The two day trip to Vegas comes with airline tickets and a two night stay at the WYNN HOTEL. This package has been generously donated by Sonoma County's Marilyn Herzog and her travel business, "Marilyn Can Travel."
