International Women’s Day (March 8th) is a global event celebrating women’s achievements - whatever they may be - whilst calling for gender equality.
This year (2017), International Women's Day takes on a renewed energy — a wave of new marches and actions we may all participate in for solidarity around the world.
Though many will stay away from any sort of work, today, in protest of the political climate, for a variety of important reasons, it's understandably not possible for every woman to go on strike at the same time.
I think it's a great idea to seek out women-owned businesses to support, especially today, and avoiding big box stores and boycotting online shopping will certainly make a collective statement and an impact on the day's economy.
Oh, and wear red. I just heard that & will dig out a splash of red to wear when out and about in support of all women, no matter what their politics, religion or status.
When women support other women, great things happen.
