My dream of writing a book was swiftly followed by an even more vivid dream of writing a second. Two books that I produced as an indie-publisher, a one-woman team of me, myself and I, in a few short years, bolstered by a support team of concept editor Elaine, illustrator Nicky, proofreader, designer and print broker, Lorna, who worked so passionately with me to make my dreams a reality.
So, now that Fog Valley Winter, my second book is here and bursting at the seams to be read, I am busy doing the rounds of Fog Valley on my self-styled fall season book tour!
This week I spoke and read for Petaluma Valley Rotary (super group) and took part in the first ever West Country Book Faire at the Sebastopol Grange — a lovely, new event for local authors to sell their books and help raise money for our wonderful Sonoma County Library service.
Here I am sharing a table with the terrific Carrie Brown of The Jimtown Store and her gorgeous books, The New Christmas Tree and The Jimtown Store Cookbook.
My festive table, with persimmons, holly and ivy, as featured in Fog Valley Winter.
Thank you, editor-extraordinaire Elaine (pictured with me below) for being my stalwart co-adventurer still on these Fog Valley literary expeditions. Click here for Elaine's own website if you're a writerly type.

Being my own publisher is very much a part of who I am — staunchly independent and self-sufficient. This really does involve mustering all the get-up-and-go inside of me, though, as my natural instincts are to hunker down and start writing the next one.
It's vital for the journey of my books out in the world for me to travel with them and meet new people and share our collective stories. Sometimes, it's sharing the experience with other writers, such as this nice person pictured with me below (author of a vintage cocktail book whose name I failed to jot down).
If you haven't heard me read from Fog Valley Winter this fall and would like to stop in at an upcoming event, here are the posters I made for Nov 30th and December 14th readings in Petaluma. I'm very excited about both of these and I'd be ever-so appreciative if you'd rally a friend or two to come support me.
Hope to see you there!
Please do consider gifting Fog Valley Winter as holiday gifts to foodies and history lovers on your list. Books are available directly from me via paypal and also in Petaluma at B Street Mercantile, Copperfields, Free Range Provisions, Petaluma Home and Garden, Petaluma Visitors Center, Velvet Ice Boutique and in Cotati at the Redwood Cafe.
