A visit to McEvoy Ranch, a hop skip and a jump from my house out onto the D Street Extension, heading west never ceases to astonish me with its stunning and serene surrounds.
Fall is the picture-perfect time to take pause amongst the olive groves, interspersed in more recent years with grapevines.
I'm not much of a wine-club person, in most part because Timo and I have made such an investment in time, money and effort growing and making our own house wine over the past 15 years. Writing about food and wine, I'm fortunate to find myself with frequent assignments out and about in wine country — work and fun that fills up my calendar.
McEvoy's wines are great and they're local and in joining this particular wine club, after several friends have blazed the trail, seemed like a super way to make the most of having this spectacular, world-class ranch right on our doorstep. And so, I'll be sure to share photos from more frequent visits.
Loved these simple, little thumbprint jam tarts served amidst a lot of tasty, ranch-grown and made fall treats during a fall wine-club pick-up party. Members enjoy discounted goods in the ranch store and get to hang out in the stylish, fairly new tasting room.
What's not to like about this?!
