Friends of the Petaluma River non-profit group recently held its Spring Petaluma River Cleanup and removed over 3500 lbs of trash from our much-loved waterway. A first Spring Showcase also took place this month of May with nine groups of students presenting their Watershed Classroom projects to the community.
"We are excited to add a fifth week to our Green Heron Nature Camp this summer and are introducing a new program to its summer camp program, just for girls — called Elderberry Blossoms," shared Friends of the Petaluma River executive director, Stephanie Bastianon.
Friends of the Petaluma River also engages in celebrations around the river with events such as Rivertown Revival and provides weekly free boat rides. The organization's annual fundraising Gala, Moonlit Fandango is fast approaching. The event takes place on May 26th, 2016 at 5:30pm at Olympia’s Valley Estate a few miles outside of Petaluma.
