Take a closer look at this jolly family's holiday shot. Behind her constant smile, Petaluma mother-of-two, Lindsay Lugo is fighting for her life.
Lindsay is awaiting a lung transplant. She suffers a rare heart condition — Primary Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. Her lungs have been drastically attacked by this serious condition, putting her at risk of respiratory failure each and every day.
Living under such threat and keeping it together for the sake of her young sons, Trustin and Angelo Jr would be enough for most anyone. Yet Lindsay's spirited life force has kept her on track as a devoted wife, mom and student, finishing up her Psychology Bachelor of Science degree with a dream of pursuing a medical career of her own.
"Her aspirations are great and our group would love to see this local mom fulfill her dreams," says the Fabulous Women of Sonoma County, one of my favorite local non-profits to rally our community for families in need.
Lindsay is on oxygen and IV therapy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. "There is no break for Lindsay and there is no cure for her condition without a double lung transplant," says the Fabulous Women. "She is currently on a waiting list to find the right donor. As you can imagine, many factors need to line up. Finding the perfect donor is not an easy task, and medical costs associated with this transplant are tremendous".
Each day that Lindsay has with her family is a blessing. The Fabulous Women group has launched a holiday campaign from through December 31st, 2015 to raise money for this brave mother. It is the group's goal for our community to support Lindsay with financial donations, holiday gifts for her children and gift cards for food, gas or local merchants that will support her family through this traumatic time.

The Fabulous Women's group is collaborating with Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop, 3100 Lakeville Highway, Petaluma to help the Lugo Family. There's still time to pick a tag off the Giving Tree as another way to support the Lugo Family. Do so by n December 20th, for a Christmas Drive at Mr. Pickles. Gifts and donations may be dropped off between 11:00 - 2:00pm. Santa and the Lugos will be there from 12:30 - 2:00pm. There will be baked goods, a small raffle and cocoa for sale.
