Writing and the Natural World: A One-Day Retreat for Women, focusing on how the mirror of nature reflects our life stories, will be offered by Jack London State Historic Park on Saturday May 16th 2015 from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
This special all day experience at the Park led by author and writing guide Susan Hagen combines writing and earth-based healing practices with an opportunity to explore deeper self awareness.
This event is limited to 12 participants.
The day begins with drumming, a sharing circle, and an introduction to the Medicine Wheel as a tool for balance and harmony. After the morning ceremony of preparation, reflective writing will follow the Earth Walk. Simple techniques for effortless writing and story sharing will be offered and no previous writing experience is necessary. For more details on the full experience as well as what to bring for the one-day retreat, please visit jacklondonpark.com.

During this time, she developed a writing program that combines key elements of the wilderness experience with writing as a healing practice. Susan is an award-winning nonfiction writer and co-author of Women at Ground Zero: Stories of Courage and Compassion. Her life and work continue to be guided and informed by the Wilderness Quest.

OMGosh I am SO in! I'm not even a writer, but this is just what I need at this point in my life. I've just registered! I'm so glad you shared about this Frances because I somehow missed knowing about it.
Susan and I go WAY back from the time when she a guest speaker at one of my women's retreats sharing about her POWERFUL book 'Women at Ground Zero'. She is a gifted writer, speaker and teacher. We often host retreats at the same place on the same weekend and though I haven't taken one of hers, the gals I've met who have were clearly loving what they were experiencing.
To be inspired by Susan in our beautiful Jack London Park sounds like the perfect combination! I'm glad I got my spot before it sells out!

I absolutely love Jack London State Park, Anastasia, I am so excited to hear that you are going to attend. I have a prior engagement that day, but if Susan decides to do this again, I will most certainly sign up.

Hi Frances: Thank you for posting this. And Anastasia, thank you for your very generous comments about me! I'm really excited about offering this program for the first time at Jack London Park. I'm glad you'll be joining us, Anastasia. It's not just for writers, but any woman who wants to deepen her connection with the natural world.
Frances, you mentioned wanting to know if I will offer this again. The answer is YES! I'm offering the same program at Ocean Song Farm and Wilderness Center on Saturday, July 27. Ocean Song is located between Occidental and Bodega Bay on one of Sonoma County's most scenic byways, Coleman Valley Road.
