Kathleen Weber, founder and baker (and recent James Beard Award nominee) at Della Fattoria Bakery in Petaluma, and her son, Aaron, will present a menu inspired by artisan baking from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 26, at Fresh Starts Chef Events.
Regular readers will recall my recent post on Petaluma's Central Market Chef Tony's terrific (and tasty) presentation at Fresh Starts Chef Events in January.
Kathleen and Aaron celebrate release of their first book, "Della Fattoria Bread," by offering techniques for shaping bread along with a three-course menu from the book. The dishes showcase Della Fattoria breads, which they plan to bring along!
The menu:
Green Salad with Citronette
Lamb Tagine with Apricots, Golden Raisins & Pomegranate Seeds
Lemon Cream Tart
A self-described "obsessive baker," Kathleen baked at home for years before opening her business in 1995 and scoring The French Laundry among her first clients. Aaron joined the business after stints in some of Sonoma County’s top kitchens.
In 2011, Bon Appétit magazine named Della Fattoria as one of “America’s 10 Best Bread Bakeries.” The business, based on a working farm, includes a cafe in downtown Petaluma and a stand at the San Francisco Ferry Building.
Tickets cost $55 each and include dinner; wine will be available for purchase. The event takes place in the showcase kitchen at the Next Key Center, 1385 N. Hamilton Parkway, in Novato.
All proceeds benefit shelter and job-training programs at Homeward Bound of Marin. For more information or registration, please visit www.hbofm.org or call 415-382-3363 x243.
