Award-Winning, sustainably-farmed and family owned Napa Valley Estate, V. Sattui Winery has gone to the dogs - at least for one day! And all for the good cause of fundraising for Napa Humane.
The winery, founded in 1885, makes over 60 different wines with dozens of 90+ point rated wines among its current vintages. If you're as passionate about your four-legged pal(s) as you are a good vintage, the inaugural V Sattui "Pamper Your Pooch Day' is a must for the May calendar.
A stunning, must-see wine country destination for picnics, weddings and events, the wineryoffers an impressively robust Cheese Shop with more than 200 selections, an excellent Deli directed by Executive Chef Gerardo Sainato and a Salumeria directed by Franco Ghiringhelli.
The sprawling estate includes two-dozen picnic tables nestled beneath ancient Valley Oak trees and tri-level terraces that overlook beautifully manicured gardens and vineyards
Guests are invited to participate in the “Cutest Dog Contest” and Doggie Vineyard Stroll; enjoy special gourmet canine snacks compliments of Fideaux Outfitters for Dogs and Cats; and pick up a “S’wag Bag” with goodies and special offerings. The first 100 guests to check-in to the event through Yelp! will receive a special doggie bandana, and a new line of V. Sattui-branded doggie wear will be available for purchase in the winery's Marketplace.
Copies of the just-released National Geographic guidebook, “The Dog Lover’s Guide to Travel,” will be available to have signed by the author, Kelly E. Carter, who will be on hand, in person, with her own dog, Lucy.
There will also be professional portraits taken by local pet photographer, Diane Costello of Fog Dog Studios, who will be donating all of the day’s photo proceeds to Napa Humane. Throughout the day, dog-lovers are welcome to picnic and play catch and Frisbee on the private vineyard-view lawn, normally reserved for private events. In honor of the warm spring weather, freshly barbequed tri-tip, prawns, ribs, and made-to-order wood-fired pizzas will also be on the menu, in addition to the wide variety of foods and refreshments available in the winery's Deli and Cheese Shop.
V. Sattui Director of Winemaking, Brooks Painter, was recognized as “Winemaker of the Year” at the San Francisco International Wine Competition in June of 2013 and in 2014 V. Sattui was named “Winery of the Year” for the third year in a row at the Winemaker’s Challenge.
This marked the tenth time in the last decade that the Winery has been given that honor at a major national competition. In addition, V. Sattui garnered “Best Winery in the Bay Area” for the third year in a row in the San Francisco Bay Guardian 2014 “Reader’s Poll.”
