Crossing Paths brings together two young artists, who, though both raised in Petaluma, were previously unknown to one another. The Back House Gallery at downtown Petaluma's Heebe Jeebe store has invited these two talented young artists to show together in an exhibit appropriately called Crossing Paths. An artists reception is open to the public on Saturday, March 15th, 2014 from 6-9pm.
Hannah Day is a recent graduate of University of San Diego working predominantly in drawing and printmaking. Her work centers around figures and landscapes of desolation and density, meant to correspond with the emptiness and chaos within our selves. These syncroni demonstrate our inextricable relationship with our surroundings, and how their state of disarray is a reflection of our own.
Justin Ringlein has devoted a great deal of his energy to the practice of art. Justin's practices involve the idea that life is filled with choices that both break one down and build one up and that outside influences and internal perseverance lead to the formation of an individual's character. Justin's work has developed into a reflection of these notions and emphasizes the consistency of life's experiences. As a painter he engages in the process of surface building and deconstruction of transparent layers which speak to an intuitive nature. This combined with his sensibility as a print maker, focusing on highly premeditated detailed imagery expresses a meticulous nature achieved through etching.
