Downtown Petaluma's pint sized Boomerang Gallery is back with a new show of rayguns, blasters and laser cannons by artist Mikael J Haye.
Born and raised Mendocino, now living in Petaluma after a decade in downtown Los Angeles, Mikael describes himself as a curious creative. An artist for whom the creative process is about discovering new media, tools and logic. Immersing himself at times in drawing, painting, building, sewing, music, and sculpture.
Of his new show, he says: "This is my current ongoing project, born of a move, a new role as father and homemaker, and the need to create a space of my own in orderto find myself as a child again. Tinkering, deconstructing, collecting, repurposing, and imaging the fantastic. Combining dissident materials, finding ways to align them in time and perceived function. Taking broken bits and bobs and building them into fantastical non-tools. A love of all things old, sweaty and rusty gives these objects a sense of history, while a love of fantasy, sci-fi, and science gives them form."
Explore this unique exhibit at an artists reception Saturday November 23rd, 2013 from 7 pm til 9 pm. The show runs from Nov 23rd through Jan 5th
Boomerang Gallery is located in the Heebe Jeebe gift store, at 46 Kentucky St Petaluma Ca 94952
