Petaluma-based portrait photographer Jude Mooney considers herself very lucky to be doing exactly what she loves doing most - making beautiful photos.
"I am inspired by the light, mood, laughter and tears, honesty, motion, vintage ephemera, trees and textures," says Jude, who has just launched a brand new web site for the 2013 season.
Jude says that: "I believe in making a starting plan but staying open to change. Be spontaneous and let accidents happen. Collaborate. The weather, location or your models may dictate how the shoot unfolds."
She considers herself both an artist and a record keeper, documenting unique times and places in a person's life. "Life changes quickly and kids grow up fast so take lots and lots of pictures along the way!"
Jude, who was educated at Sarah Lawrence College in New York, received her BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in the 90s. She has been shooting weddings and portraits in the Bay Area for over a decade, as well as showing her fine art in Bay Area galleries.
A favorite black and white family portrait Jude took of Timo, myself and our boys about six or seven years ago features us standing in front of a majestic oak tree at the top of our property, our dog, Kite, seated at our feet, as usual. Both the tree and dear, old Kite have now both gone from this world - yet that beautiful, ordinary, loving moment in time is forever remembered.
Talking with Jude, she has lots of good stuff in the pipeline, including some upcoming workshops, which I'll share with you when she has announcements.
If you are looking for exquisite portraiture or wedding photography for this upcoming year, it's time to get on Jude's radar. See more of her work at JudeMooney.com
