No matter how much we may yearn for the traditional holiday, staging a scene with all of the festive bells and whistles takes some doing. If you find yourself lacking in one department or another, whether it be cookie baking, gift wrapping, tree decorating, or possibily all of the above, don't stress yourselves on the details. Do what you do best and do it from the heart.
Whilst writing my regular column for my local newspaper, this week, I was intent on touching upon that most heartwrenching of national news stories, one that has eclipsed the usual festive revelry one would expect from the media at this time of year. In doing so, I stumbled upon a series of quotes, including this one, coined from America's favorite, the late Mister (Fred) Rogers:
"We rarely have time for everything you want in this life, so you need to make certain choices. And hopefully your choices can come from a deep sense of who you are."
With this in mind, however you choose to celebrate the holidays, make it an expression of what means most to you and yours. Less is always more.
