Sunset Magazine's 2012 International Wine Competition just announced its winners and Southern Sonoma County's own, Petaluma-based Singer Cellars scored its second Gold Medal for winemaker Barry Singer's splendid '09 Rhapsody.
A combination of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this Bordeaux style blend is Singer's salute to the Right Bank's St.Emilion Cheval Blanc.
"It was the first time we ventured into this blend but you can count on it being on the roster for a long time to come," said Barry Singer. "I felt that the wines we made were the best we had ever produced."
In fact, 2009 was a spectacular vintage for Singer Cellars. In the last five months the winemaker has won the following 10 awards for his '09 wines (with one exception, the '08 Merlot).
