Help! Are you a hunter/gatherer type, based here in Southern Sonoma County? If so, you might be just the person to help me meet a special, one-of-a-kind community challenge this week to gather, forage or hunt three pounds or more of a locally sourced protein.
Here's the deal: money may not be exchanged or used in its cultivation. And I'm going to have to barter for it. I'm ahead of this particular game in that I've sealed the deal on a few pounds of a vegetable, sourced the same way. It's the meat or cheese course, I'm after now. Though quite how it'll be cooked when it comes to the weirdly wonderful group-culinary shenanigans I'll be attending, I don't have a clue. Three pounds of cheese is a lot, so I'm thinking some sort of hunted wild fowl or 4H project might be the answer!
Give me a holler if you have a prospect for this odd request, of which, I'm sure to have plentiful fodder for upcoming posts, after the event.
UPDATE ALERT: All sorts of interesting possibilities have arisen since posting this here on my site! Mission duly has been accomplished (at least the plotting stage). In the meantime, I'm doing some extra homework by reading this nifty little NPR article on the hunting of wild greens just in case I find myself being one of the Tribal Dinner crew sent off site to forage extras. Yikes.

I called George for you. He may call you directly if he has anything.
