It is in your power for one night to illuminate a saintly soul, real or imagined in the annual Day of the Dead Art Show at Petaluma's Boomerang Gallery inside Heebe Jeebe gift store, downtown at 46 Kentucky Street.
Overall theme this year for the city-wide Day of the Dead is "Bridges of Light". Boomerang's sub theme is "Personal Saints".
So, what does your personal saint look like? You have just enough time to depict his or her image in art form or design the sort of saint you'd like to have looking over you (or all of us - how about a Patron Saint of Petaluma?).
The show opens at Boomerang Gallery on Friday, October 21st, 2011 from 6 to 9 pm.
Artwork will be due, ready to hang with all necessary hardware, Wednesday, October 19th. Contact Drew Washer or staff at 707 953 8074 to let them know if you plan to participate so that they can save a space for your work.
There is quite an extensive schedule of events for the 11th annual Day of the Dead festival, including an altar making workshop and remembrance portrait painting sessions for kids, this weekend at the Arts Center.
