Petaluma's Fair Trade maven Noelle Marshall is back in town and ready for brisk fall season business following a trip to Boston, Mass for the largest Fair Trade conference in the world - Fair Trade Futures 2010.
“This incredible event brought together entrepreneurs, advocates, faith community members and students from many parts of the world,” said Marshall, who attended a series of workshops, seminars, spirited discussions, social and educational sessions to inspire a new level of poverty alleviation through improved and increased Fair Trade.
“My favorite part of the conference,” said Marshall, “was the exposition of more than 80 vendors. I was introduced to several, beautiful new lines of jewelry, textiles and accessories to introduce to One Planet shoppers.”
Marshall enjoyed this opportunity to meet vendors with whom the Petaluma entrepreneur has done business with for the past two years, including co-founder and seamstress of Global Mamas, Esther Gyepi-Garbrah on her first visit to the United States from Ghana.
“I also met John Hayden, founder of Jamtown,” said Marshall. “John works with artisans making musical instruments from many countries in central and south America and West Africa.”
North American Fair Trade sales lag significantly behind a bustling trade in Europe, making Marshall’s work in Northern California all the more poignant. Her Petaluma store in the historic district of downtown draws customers from all over the region, united in a passion to help improve living conditions for artists in the developing world.
Four exciting new product lines being introduced to One Planet this fall include: eco-friendly Aurea Goldengrass golden leaf jewelry; handcrafted seed bead jewelry, pouches and hair accessories by Dunitz and Company; Santa Cruz based Zen Zen items for home and garden and cloth dolls by Manos de Madres.
Marshall’s eye for what the discerning customer is looking for in premium quality, exquisitely designed and reasonably priced merchandise has been fine tuned from her Boston Fair Trade Conference experience.
Yet, perennial favorite amongst Bay Area customers is by far the Creative Brazil line at One Planet.
And Marshall and staff at One Planet invite you to attend a Creative Brazil Trunk Show

Creative Brazil features lightweight copper overlays on 18K gold and brass over white gold. This jewelry never tarnishes," said Marshall, who has adopted Creative Brazil as her personal jewelry of choice.
