There has never been a greater need for a dynamic downtown association and revamped Visitor's Program in the riverfront city of Petaluma, CA. Recent, tough economic times have certainly been challenging for southern Sonoma County independent business people, yet the city of Petaluma's outstanding historic main street downtown environment has weathered the recessionary storm thus far, and to such an extent that this hub of boutique enterprise continues to attract the attention of regional and national media as a mainstay of staunch American culture.
There was certainly a buzz in the air at The Petaluma Visitor's Center's relaunching celebration as the city's highly successful Downtown Association team (see Marie and Jennie in bottom left shot above) settle into their new digs down at the historic Freight Building on Lakeville Highway as Petaluma's new team of visitor's service staff.
The Visitor Center is located in the Historic Depot Building at the northeast corner of E. Washington St. and Lakeville St. Hwy. 116. Take the E. Washington St. or the Lakeville Hwy 116 exit from Hwy. 101. Entry is right turn only from E. Washington St. and exit is right turn only onto "D" St.
Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week. Welcoming and knowledgeable staff members serve around 2,000 monthly members of the traveling public and residents alike with valuable information about Petaluma, Sonoma Country and Wine Country, the extended Bay Area and the state of California.
Next up in the downtown area is the Downtown Merchant's Halloween Trick or Treat Trail on Sunday, October 31st from 3-5 pm followed by the annual Merchants' Holiday Open House event, December 4th, 2010.
Don't miss the annual Petaluma Veteran's Day Parade, November 11th at 1pm - throughout downtown, a stirring and biggest commemorative event of its kind in the north bay.

Hah--like ships in the night--The Photo Class was down at the Arts Center last nite. We wondered why all the cars were present.
