Petaluma's Benefit Thrift 'School Store' - Alphabet Soup has launched a Facebook page in time for the Fall shopping season.
Offering affordable options for back-t0-school shopping in Southern Sonoma County and a great selection of gently used household items for dorm room furnishings, pots and pans and more, all profits generated at the Western Avenue store fund Petaluma Educational Foundation (site sponsor) programs that serve the city's 37 schools.
Cleaning closets to make way for the Fall holiday season or sorting through those piles of outgrown kids clothing? Pack it in the trunk and take it down to Alphabet Soup (drop-off point for large donations is behind the store in a small, separate building).
Sporty boys and girls in need of new soccer/PE kits? Don't forget to donate old sets of school and team sports clothing to Alphabet Soup. Your child's quality cast-off is another happy family's bargain find.
Store Manager Mary Shaw would love to welcome a select few new volunteers to the friendliest little benefit thrift store in town.
If you know of someone looking for cashier/customer service experience, particularly one with a flair for window design, fashion and merchandise, Alphabet Soup's flexible 4-hour minimum shift per month volunteer program is a perfect fit. Did I mention that volunteers receive a 20% discount on all purchases in the store? Great for student volunteers and others on budget incomes, or in between jobs.
Alphabet Soup volunteers are well looked after by Shaw and her social team of core staff, with seasonal social gatherings and an annual appreciation luncheon.
A successful back-to-school program within the store has sold hundreds of pencils, packs of papers, folders, binders and more this August, with supplies still on hand for the first day of school countdown. Alphabet Soup generously donated additional supplies to needy schools.
Don't forget that Halloween is just around the corner. Shaw says the store has a terrific range of costumes ready to be displayed in September.
Do the right thing by city-wide schools and put Alphabet Soup to the top of your A list for donations of furniture, clothing and household items. Or better still, friend the store on Facebook today!
