How many pairs of shoes does a kid need these days? Let's start with the everyday footwear - school shoes. Boys - maybe two to three pairs at the most? Girls - most likely multiply that number by three! Then there are sports cleats, track shoes, snow boots, flip-flops, sandals, water shoes, clogs, crocs, indoor-outdoor Uggs, dress shoes worn once at a wedding.
It is hard to imagine a place where children walk barefoot to classes for miles each day, run, play, work on rocky hills without any protection for their torn-up feet.
One Petaluma woman saw this for herself on a youth group trip to Malawi, Africa, where she stayed in a village packed with impoverished kids. Shoes in this part of the world are a rarity, not a top priority in the bigger picture of basic survival.
Alexandra returned with a mission to make a difference to the children of that particular village. She has been collecting piles of outgrown kids' footwear from families throughout Sonoma County to transport back to Malawi this Spring.
if you can help boost Alexandra's special delivery with a donation of used shoes for kids, stop by Lions and Tigers and Hair Salon in the historic Lan Mart building in downtown Petaluma this week and drop off any excess kids' footwear for pick-up.
Chris at Lions and Tigers (The Lan-Mart Bldg. 18 Kentucky St., Suite 42 Petaluma, CA 94952) has generously provided collection space for this super-easy shoe drive in which we can all make a practical, caring, cost-free contribution to a child in a far away place.

I envy your style, the idea that your post is a tiny bit unusual makes it so interesting, I am fed up of seeing the same stuff all of the time.
