Hot on the heels of having raised over $6,000 in a series of weekend bake sales around downtown, a group of philanthropic students from Petaluma High School is helping produce an upcoming art show and auction to further its contribution towards the rebuilding of Haiti.
"We're calling this March 2oth event Helping Hands for Haiti", says co-organizer and Petaluma High School senior, Sierra Kind. This silent auction for locally donated art includes an original painting from Haiti.
Helping Hands for Haiti takes place on March 20th, 2010 at Petaluma Textile and Design at 125 Washington Street, Petaluma,
"We will be selling tickets to raffle off a quilt we've created," says Sierra. A second large-scale textile (see photos) will be sold in the silent auction for use as a tablecloth or wall art.
And if they haven't already baked their fair share of mountainous fundraising goodies in the past few weeks, the girls (and a few guys) will be whipping up more treats for an additional bake sale at the event.
