Back in June we celebrated all of the high school graduations of my oldest boys' longtime friends, as well as his own, and now, at the end of their collective summer of numerous trip departures and arrivals, overnight camp-outs, afternoon hang-outs and seasonal jobs, it's time to say goodbye to those packed for pastures new and colleges near and far.
Snapped this classic shot with my iphone to capture just one of these moments in this tight-knit bunch of Petaluma boys' post-high school summer finale. Can't help but wonder where they will all be in a decade or so. How far will the pull of the road lure these particular lads? Who will stay here in Sonoma County and who will eventually return? Eighteen and ready to rock and roll life's highways and byways. An enviable position in an ever-changing cultural landscape!

Bye Bye American Pie!
