Disclaimer: this is a totally biased post. Together since 2007, the lovely, handsome and talented group of musical young men who make up the band Waters (and frequently fill up the back of my old Suburban with an assortment of banjos, amps and double bass) will be back in their home stompin grounds of Southern SoCo later this month as one of the folk-inspired, live local bands playing Rivertown Revival.
Here's one of my favorite photos taken of some of the band members on stage during recent album recordings in historic Ferndale, up on the Lost Coast. Photographer Kevin Parnow is the most recent member of Waters, musicians who met in junior high school in Petaluma and still manage to play live and record despite geographical distances during the academic year.
Just so you know they're as great as I say, here's a terrific review of Waters by Nicholas Grizzle of The Bohemian.
With so much to do at the Rivertown Revival, the $5 festival is a super bargain considering the line up of music from 11 am to 7pm.
Here's the full roster, with Waters playing the Channel Stage at the entrance to the event at 12.20 pm.
You can download their 2011 album Savage Beasts for free here. Final touches are still being made to their upcoming, second album.
Rivertown Revival takes place on Saturday, July 21st at the David Yearsley River Heritage Center at Copeland and East D Streets in the heart of Petaluma.
